  • ENLIST THEIR HELP ON PREPARING THE GROCERY SHOPPING LIST.

  • TAKE THEM TO THE FARMERS MARKET AND PUT THEM IN CHARGE OF VEGETABLES.

  • HAVE THEM HELP “PREPARE” THE KITCHEN BY UNLOADING THE DISHWASHER IN ORDER MAKE “SOMETHING SPECIAL” AFTER.

  • BAKE TOGETHER. HAVE THEM STIR, COUNT, AND MEASURE.

  1. READ EVERY LABEL BEFORE BUYING A PRODUCT THAT GOES IN YOUR BODY AND ON YOUR BODY. ESPECIALLY IF YOU WANT IT!

  2. DO NOT BUY IT IF IT CONTAINS ANY OF THE 5 PHRASES LISTED ABOVE.

  3. DO NOT BUY IT IF YOU ARE NOT CONFIDENT THAT A SEVEN YEAR OLD CHILD CAN PRONOUNCE ALL THE WORDS LISTED AS INGREDIENTS. 

  4. PREPACKAGED ITEMS HAVE 5 INGREDIENTS OR LESS AND YOU KNOW WHAT ALL OF THEM ARE. IF YOU CAN’T READ THEM PUT THE ITEM BACK. AVOID AN ULTRA PROCESSED DIET.

Confetti Coleslaw with Poppysedd Dressing

1 cup thinly sliced green cabbage

1 cup thinly sliced red cabbage

1/2 cup pre-cut matchstick carrot

1 cup apple, finely sliced

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

1/2 cup raw sunflower seeds

2 tablespoons cider vinegar

1 1/2 teaspoons honey

1 1/2 teaspoons Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon poppy seeds

1 teaspoon olive oil

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

Prepare all of the fresh ingredients as noted and place them in a bowl. Add sunflower seeds. Add all of the dressing ingredients to a small bowl or jar and whisk well. Pour the dressing over the veggies and seeds and toss to mix. Taste and season with additional salt and pepper as desired. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
